Tips: How to install a locking receptacle?

To install a twist lock receptacle, use the three color-coded wiring terminals of the plug, including the positive terminal, the neutral terminal and the ground terminal.

1. Wrap the hot wire or positive wire (black wire) clockwise around the screw in the gold terminal, and then tighten the screw.
2. Take a neutral wire (gray or white) and wind it clockwise around the screw in the silver terminal of the twist lock receptacle. Make sure the screws are tight.
3. Locate the ground wire (green or green and yellow) and twist the strand to form a wire. Take that wire and wind it around the screw at the green terminal of the plug. Tighten the screws.
