Tips: Shallow well jet pump maintenance

Jet pumps do not require regular maintenance. However, in new installations, the nozzles may become partially or completely clogged with plastic cuttings or dirt. When this happens, it may pump water, but not build up to "cut off" pressure. When the pump is pumping silt or sand, wear occurs around the impeller eye, saving pumping capacity and maximum pumping pressure. Allowing the pump to run dry will cause leakage through the pump shaft seal.
